Conception is a compilation album issued by Prestige Records in 1956 as PRLP 7013, featuring Miles Davis on a number of tracks. The album, compiled from earlier 10 inch LPs, or as 78rpm singles, also features musicians such as Lee Konitz, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, and Zoot Sims. The cover was designed by Bob Parent. In particular, the entirety of the 10"LP Lee Konitz: The New Sounds (PRLP 116) makes up all of side 1. "Odjenar" (George Russell) - 2:52. Hibeck" (Lee Konitz) - 3:07.

Exclusively for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). This album is another treasure by Konitz from the mid 1950s. This one stands out because he plays half the album on alto sax and the other half on tenor. On the original LP the A side was dedicated to alto and the B side to tenor. Actually, he plays both saxophones on track 1 after the guitar solo. You can listen to them here: Inside Hi-Fi (US Release). Interestingly, Konitz splits this album in half, with Billy Bauer on guitar as the chordal instrument on the first four tracks and the chordal.

Everything Happens to Me, 04:30.

This excellent recording (part of their 1987 Jazzlore series) features altoist Lee Konitz with two separate quartets during 1956. Either guitarist Billy Bauer or pianist Sal Mosca are the main supporting voices in groups also including either Arnold Fishkind or Peter Ind on bass and Dick Scott on drums. The most unusual aspect to the set is that on the four selections with Mosca, Konitz switches to tenor, playing quite effectively in a recognizable cool style.
