The Flying Lizards was an experimental new wave, post-punk pop group from London, UK, which existed from 1976 to 1984. The group was formed and led by David Cunningham, whose concept was to have a loose-knit line-up: the group included avant-garde and free-improvising musicians like David Toop and Steve Beresford (both of General Strike), as well as keyboard player Julian Marshall (of the duo Marshall Hain) and the late painter Michael Upton.

The Flying Lizards' first album unwittingly followed one of the greatest traditions of '50s and '60s pop - take a hit single, surround it with a whole bunch of filler less interesting than the hit, and presto! You have an album. Too bad Cunningham didn't prove to have as much vision as, say, Count Five or the Royal Guardsmen, who did better with the quickie album concept than he did. Track Listing.

Of course, based on the sales of the first album, Virgin wanted a follow-up, so he recorded Fourth Wall. Fourth Wall was a much more mature album - more straightforward.
