Jacqueline du Pre's recording of the Elgar concerto with Sir John Barbirolli conducting the London Symphony Orchestra is one of classical music's great recordings. Inexpressibly poignant, Jacqueline's cello sings. 35 Richard Strauss New Philharmonia Orchestra with Desmond Bradley, Herbert Downes, Jacqueline Du Pre Conducted by Sir Adrian Boult.

Jacqueline Mary du Pré, OBE (26 January 1945 – 19 October 1987) was a British cellist. At a young age, she achieved enduring mainstream popularity. Despite her short career, she is regarded as one of the greatest cellists of all time.

Du Pré brought such searing intensity and radiant joy to her cello playing that, despite a career that was tragically curtailed by multiple sclerosis, continues to impact musicians today. This luxury boxed set, released in 2007 to mark the 25th anniversary of her death, is a 17-CD treasury uniting du Pré’s entire EMI Classics legacy and includes – for the first time on CD – two Bach sonata movements from her 1962 debut recital recording. Mastered at Abbey Road, the collection also features a 32-page booklet detailing the life and art of du Pré.
