Slapp Happy (also known as Casablanca Moon) is a studio album by German/British avant-pop group Slapp Happy, recorded at Virgin Records' Manor Studio in 1974. This album was originally recorded in 1973 in Germany under a working title of Casablanca Moon with Faust as Slapp Happy's backing band, but Polydor Germany rejected it. After moving to London and signing with Virgin Records, Slapp Happy re-recorded it (at Virgin's request) and it was released in 1974 as Slapp Happy

Slapp Happy was a German/English avant-pop group consisting of Anthony Moore (keyboards), Peter Blegvad (guitar) and Dagmar Krause (vocals). The band formed in Germany in 1972. The band members moved to England in 1974 where they merged with Henry Cow, but the merger ended soon afterwards and Slap. ore . Year: 1972.

Who's Gonna Help Me Now?" is strange roots-rock, and "Sort Of" a surfish instrumental that sounds like a postmodern "Telstar," all contributing to the feeling that the band was more concerned with tongue-in-cheek eclecticism than moving toward a settled identity.

Slapp Happy were progressive without being bogged down by too much heavy-handedness. I didn't realize how chilling though the lyrics to Monoplane were until the third or fourth listening. Sort Of" gets a nicely remastered reissue with a bonus track "Jumping Johan". There isn't much to say if you already have this album-it sold zero when first released and, shortly after it's release during the recording of their second album (which the label didn't release initially), they were dropped by the label. Sort Of" isn't a perfect album-it finds the band finding their footing and sound. It's a very well made album and the writing is good as well-if a little uncertain on some of these tracks
