They released their debut album Everything Touching on 8 October 2012 via Blood and Biscuits/Big Scary Monsters. The band received notable airplay from Huw Stevens and Zane Lowe at the BBC, and headlined the BBC Introducing Stage at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2012. Whilst touring their debut album, they enlisted producer James Elliot Field as an additional live member. Previously a member of Big Scary Monsters-signed Tubelord, he soon became a permanent member of the band. On 26 September 2017, Tall Ships announced their disbandment via social media and performed 3 farewell shows across England in Bristol, Leeds and London, which took place 14-16 December of the same year. Bassist Matt Parker had previously stated in March 2017 that the band "started writing the third record and that’s gonna be a quick turnaround, we wanna make sure that its out super-quick!
Following the release of two strong if slightly self-conscious EPs, Everything Touching, the debut album from Falmouth, England's Tall Ships, is undoubtedly the product of a band full of patience. Giving themselves the time and space needed to grow and find their formula before taking the full-length plunge, the three-piece's time on tour played a huge part, providing an essential learning curve that encouraged them to play to their strengths in the studio.
In 1998, the Tall Ships, a fleet of traditionally rigged wooden boats, visited Falmouth harbor for a momentous race. South Crofty closed, the final stronghold of the county's historic tin-mining industry. In 1999, Cornwall's cliffs proved one of the best vantage points to witness a rare solar eclipse. Following two EPs, the band's Big Scary Monsters debut doesn't capture the ferocity of their live shows, which have been consistently powerful enough to keep people hanging on for a debut proper several years after the fact.
Your average Casanova wouldn’t dream of scouring Charles Darwin’s Origin of the Species when going a-wooing, but that Tall Ships can turn biological theory into heartfelt sentiment is testament to their off-kilter majesty. Elsewhere, opener T 0 is a riot of raggedy hi-hats and skew-whiff guitars reminiscent of Battles running on super-charged petroleum, while Phosphorescence is wonderfully herky-jerky fare which celebrates the flash-gun brightness of giddy lust
Hope is hard to find, when you don't know what you're looking for And you're consistently behind, thinking there must be something more And everything is changing, but you still feel the same You don't know what you're doing with your life or so it seems You're full of suppressed feelings, a soul bursting at the seams. And everything is changing, but you still feel the same. And before you know, you're getting old, and losing touch. Tall Ships All albums Impressions Everything Touching 暫存.
