Is This It. The Strokes. Produced by Gordon Raphael. Album Is This It. Is This It Lyrics. Can't you see I'm trying? I don't even like it I just lied to get to your apartment Now I'm staying there just for a while I can't think, 'cause I'm just way too tired. About Is This It. This opening track to The Stokes' 2001 debut ended up arbitrarily spawning the album’s title. When we were trying to find titles for the record it could’ve been called Take It Or Leave It or any of them, but I thought it sounded cool in more ways than one. It’s deep without being pretentious. Is This It" Track Info.

Is This It. Released July 30, 2001. Is This It Tracklist. 1. Is This It (Ft. Colin Lane) Lyrics. In 2001, a pivotal query loomed over the restive indie-rock stratosphere: who would revitalize rock and roll? There’s a reason why the title Is This It isn’t punctuated with a question mark– this LP was the answer

The Strokes released their debut album, Is This It, in the US in October 2001. The album was produced by Gordon Raphael, as was their follow-up album Room On Fire. RCA delayed the North American (US) release over concerns with the album's cover and lyrics. While critics noted the influence of CBGB stalwarts Television, Casablancas and bandmates said they had never heard the band, instead citing the Velvet Underground as a reference point.

On July 30, 2001, – 15 years ago – The Strokes released their debut album ‘Is This It’ in Australia, the very first place the record hit the shelves. We don’t need to explain why the NYC classic’s legacy lives on 15 years later – after all we gave it 10/10 upon release and named it the fourth best album ever in our Greatest Album Of All Time list in 2013

So it goes with the Strokes, a band that's seen enough publicity in 2001 to make bin Laden jealous. Touted by the press as "the forefathers of a bold new era in rock," "the greatest rock band since the Rolling Stones" and "the second coming of the Velvet Underground," the Strokes have nowhere to go but out of style.

Take It Or Leave It. 3:16. Published by The Strokes Band Music (ASCAP).

It almost goes without saying, but the group is frequently compared to the Velvet Underground, among others, thanks inThis is the debut album from New York indie-rockers The Strokes, who have been hyped by the British music press following the release of "The Modern Age" EP in early 2001. It almost goes without saying, but the group is frequently compared to the Velvet Underground, among others, thanks in part to singer-songwriter Julian Casablancas' Lou Reed-esque vocals. Record Label: RCA, Rough Trade.

Granted, their high-fashion appeal and faultless influences - Television, the Stooges, and especially Lou Reed and the Velvets - have "critics' darlings" written all over them. But like the similarly lauded Elastica and Supergrass before them, the Strokes don't rehash the sounds that inspire them - they remake them in their own image.

is there any difference between this one and the bmg press from the same year?
Shakar
Rough Trade version has a glossy sleeve. The market has dictated this means it's worth more!
Jake
A Solid Record, from start to finish. Posterchild for the highpoint of early 2000's rock n roll comeback. Very well produced.

I bought the CD because of the cover alone when it came out in 2001and I just loved the music from that day. I bought the LP in 2005 but I hate the fact there is no inner sleeve. It's a bit silly really.
Kigabar
I buy it at the release day in London at the Rough Trade Store and get a free Strokes plastic bag and both sided promo sheet in lp size with pictures of the band, producer and so on. It is a great record and when i hear it i am dreaming in London in summer 2001

My version of this matches the identifiers of the 2011 reissue but I absolutely obtained mine in June 2010 as a Father's Day gift. Discogs lists the release date of the Rough Trade reissue as 2011. I don't time travel. Any thoughts?
Arlana
Update it if possible. Discogs needs input from us to make it better.

Quttaro

Uris
Yes, its bootleg.
Rare

Ranenast
Mine is yellow vinyl. Is this a fake too? Also the sound quality is a not the best.
Charyoll
