Tamar is the self-titled debut studio album by American R&B singer Tamar Braxton. It was released on March 21, 2000, by DreamWorks Records and RedZone Entertainment. The album features guest appearances from Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri and Amil, while the production handled by Tim & Bob, Tricky Stewart, among others. Before the official release, Braxton has become a lead singer of The Braxtons, after her sisters Traci and Toni had to leave the group, which left them as a trio of Tamar, Trina and Towanda.

The debut album from Tamar Braxton was under promoted and unfortunately got lost in the shuffle of early 2000's R&B releases. Tamar's voice is not quite as distinctive as her big sister Toni, but when applied to the right song, she shines. Highlights include Your Room, You Don't Know, Can't Nobody, Words, and the excellent The Way It Should Be and Miss Your Kiss

This solo debut from Toni Braxton's younger sister, Tamar is both impressive and enjoyable. It features a fitting mix of soulful ballads and upbeat rhythm tracks, replete with mellow harmonies and sassy backbeats. Tamar collaborates with top-notch producers Jermaine Dupri and Tricky Stewart to create a smooth, radio-friendly sound along the lines of Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. While not in possession of a vocal range as refined as her sister Toni, Tamar hits her own mark on standout tracks "If You Don't Wanna Love Me," "Tonight," and "Get None.

After the release of their debut album, So Many Ways (1996), Braxton was offered a solo recording contract with DreamWorks, which she happened to leave the group and begin her solo career.

Tamar Braxton has unveiled the music video for her new single online. Other album contributors include Benny Cassette (Keri Hilson, Sevyn Streeter), Claude Kelly (Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton), Darhyl DJ Camper (Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj) and Oren Yoel (Miley Cyrus, Eliza Doolittle).
