DC431 Cave Pure Moods 12" EP ‎(CDr, EP, Promo) Drag City DC431 US 2010

Pure Moods was the first United States release of a series of compilation albums of new-age music released by Virgin Records. The original was titled "Moods – A contemporary Soundtrack" and released in the UK in 1991. This was followed by Moods 2 in 1992. The series focuses on the genres of new-age, ambient, world music, and to a lesser extent, downtempo, trip-hop and smooth jazz.

Pure Moods EP. Drag City. Chicago band slows their kraut/noise blend down, sounding increasingly more like another set of Can lovers- Stereolab. The title of Cave's new EP seems like a playful jab at themselves, but it holds a small grain of truth: Pure Moods shows the band trying to diversify by slowing the hell down for a few minutes. The music of Can loomed large over Cave's previous releases, marrying the focus and drive of krautrock to muscular, raw noise rock.

Cave – Pure Moods (2010). Posted by NewAlbumReleases. net On May - 15 - 2010. Style: Experimental Rock. Previously on NewAlbumReleases. net: October 18, 2018 - Cave – Allways (2018).

The CAVE quartet are known for a rather experimental approach, which consequently in many cases ends up in an unexpected outfit, be it live or in the studio. Hence it's not rather surprising that their music often enough sounds like a conglomerate of psychedelic, space and krautrock elements where organ and guitar are on eye level throughout. Pure Moods' is a three-piece I can listen to again and again. The album title hits the nail right on the head.

Hot Bricks' is a tremendous starting point, dreamily motoring its way across half a side's worth of sublime Can-style manoeuvres, while 'Teenager' takes on a more ferocious tone, at first weaving through ambling wah-wah passages and disaffected.
