Ella is a 1969 studio album by the American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald and the first of two albums she recorded for the Warner Bros. This album continues the theme set on Fitzgerald's previous album, consisting in the main part of cover versions of popular songs from the late 1960s. The production of this recording was in the hands of Richard Perry, who had joined the Reprise label in 1967. Perry later went on the produce albums by Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross

The "hot" are the side-B sizzlers where Ella really cuts loose. She does I Can't Get Started; Moanin' Low; Old Devil Moon; (If You Can't Sing It) You'll Have to Swing It; You'll Never Know, and more! 1952-1955 recordings. Thanks For The Memory.

Ella is backed by a large unidentified orchestra conducted and arranged by Frank DeVol. Swingers alternate with ballads, and as usual, Ella uplifts everything, including "Let's Fall In Love," "Moonlight Serenade," "Gone With the Wind" and "East of the Su. An enjoyable if not classic release.
