Neurotica was a heavy metal band, started around 1995 by singer Kelly Schaefer (formerly of progressive death metal band Atheist) and guitarist Shawn Bowen. Performances in local clubs brought the band to the attention of AC/DC singer and Sarasota resident Brian Johnson, who helped them find a management deal and produced their debut album, Seed.

Neurotica is the fourth record and second LP from the band Redd Kross. It was released on Big Time Records (an RCA Records subsidiary) in 1987 Contents.

The full album download contains three bonus live tracks from a show in 1997.

When Neurotica was released in 1987, it inspired hordes of punk/hardcore kids to put down the safety pins and pick up the guitar. The perfect blend of Beatles/Kiss-style pop/rock and Butthole Surfers art rock, the album blends the raw punk spirit of the band that included "Quit School" stickers in their second album, 1984's Teen Babes From Monsanto, with the pure thrift store rock & roll of Kiss, the Rolling Stones, and the Stooges.

1) Critically acclaimed Neurotica (from Romania) was born in 1992 as an old school trash metal band. After their first release, they changed their style to alternative thrash with etno elements.

Neurotica has the distinction of being the first rock group to sign to the WWF's own music label, Smackdown! Records. Being backed by one of the corporate giants in the business climate of the early 21st century is certainly a positive, yet Neurotica doesn't follow through with an outstanding musical approach. This is not to say that Neurotica is a terrible band; much of this album is easy to digest and fits in comfortably with the mainstream, yet nothing surprises the listener either. Other noteworthy cuts include "All My Friends Crush You" and "Living in Dog Years. For the most part, though, Neurotica has delivered an album that is easily forgotten.
