Level 42 is the debut album released in 1981 by the British group Level 42. It is best known for the track "Love Games", which became a successful jazz–funk and dancefloor hit for the band (reaching number 38 on the UK pop charts). It has figured in both L42's and bassist Mark King's solo live appearances to this day. Also gaining substantial dance airplay on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean was the track "Starchild", with Lindup on vocals.

This song is by Level 42 and appears on the album The Pursuit Of Accidents (1982). Last night when you spoke to meEmotion in your voiceYou said that you gave to meA very simple choiceI could leave you. And go wandering on my ownOr believe in you. Never leave you all alone. Weave your spell for one more dayYou enchanted me to stay. When you met me I was wild"The Spider and the Fly"Your affections made me smileI didn't have to try.

In 1982, Level 42 released their third album The Pursuit of Accidents. This was a further development of the Level 42 formula, maintaining their instrumental jazz-funk skills and styling but also experimenting further with pop songs. Both of the singles from the album - "Weave Your Spell" and "The Chinese Way" - charted. The latter, in particular, rose high in the charts and gained the band a much wider audience than before.

Weave your spell for one more day You enchanted me to stay. Now I'm feeling like a change You say that I don't care But when I look across the way It's always greener there. All the loving that you gave unceasingly. Weave your spell for one more day You enchanted me to stay. Life is a game where nothing is real Only you, only me Right from the start we chase an ideal Fooling you, fooling me. Are you hearing what I hear Are you feeling what I feel.
