The Black Album is the eighth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released on November 14, 2003, by Roc-A-Fella Records. It was advertised as his final album before retiring, which is also a recurring theme throughout the songs, although Jay-Z resumed his recording career in 2006. For the album, Jay-Z wanted to enlist a different producer for each song, working with Just Blaze, Kanye West, The Neptunes, DJ Quik, Timbaland, 9th Wonder and Rick Rubin, among others.

Jason Newsted's former band Flotsam And Jetsam had a completely different song called "Fade To Black" on their 1986 album Doomsday For The Deceiver. Metallica was playing this song at their 1992 concert in Montreal's Olympic Stadium when James Hetfield was burned badly by wayward stage pyrotechnics. The song's title is never mentioned in the lyrics, although the Metallica song "The Memory Remains" on their 1997 album Reload does have "fade to black" in the lyrics Wendy from West Des Moines, Ia As a newly recovering alcoholic, many treatment centers and a suicide attempt in my past "Fade to Black" has played a huge part in my recovery. It speaks to the bottom and loneliness that addiction will bring. I listen to Metallica when I run on my treadmill, listen to the lyrics and thank God I am no longer in that place, but can't afford not to remember how bad it can get.

Redirected from Fade To Black (song)). Fade to Black" is a song and the first power ballad by American heavy metal band Metallica, released as the first promotional single from its second studio album, Ride the Lightning. The song was ranked as having the 24th best guitar solo ever by Guitar World readers. The song peaked at number 100 on Swiss Singles Chart in 2008. The song is certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Fade to Black is a song by thrash metal band Metallica from their second album, Ride the Lightning (1984). It was written by Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich. It was the first musical ballad released by the band. Fade to Black" was played live for the first time on February 9, 1985, in Chicago, IL at the Aragon Ballroom.

Fade to Black is a powerful ballad about a man that wants to commit suicide, and eventually does it. The depressive lyrics regarding someone with suicidal desires were inspired by James Hetfield’s first Marshall amplifier, which his mother helped him get before she died, being stolen just before the album was recorded. What have the artists said about the song? Fade to Black got good and bad response. When the censorship thing started, that was one of the songs they tried to attack. These parents finding their kids dead in the garage with these lyrics, sucking on an exhaust pipe.

Fade to Black was created during a low period for the American band: The group had had their equipment stolen following a concert a few days before beginning the song’s composition. What resulted was the melancholic intro we present for you to study today. When it comes to the actual guitar playing, the intro is performed on a 12-string acoustic. James Hetfield, the group’s frontman, plays the series of arpeggios with a pick. Take care to focus on your right-hand playing to ensure careful execution of the attacks using down strokes on the down beats and up strokes on the off-beats
