The Collegium Terpsichore and the Ulsamer Collegium perform dances by Praetorius, Erasmus Widmann Johann Schein and others with all the charm of period instruments without the musicological pedantry. I bought this CD for the dances by Widmann. It is completed by 13 tracks from another album, recorded by Ulsamer Collegium led by Josef Ulsamer and published in 1973, "Tanzmusik des Frühbarock", Dance music of the early baroque, Archiv 2533 150 (with dances from about 1570 to 1620). Here's the complete track listing of that LP: A. iorgio Mainerio: Schiarazula Marazula A2.

Album · 1998 · 29 Songs. Terpsichore: Bransle Gay double VIII - Bransle double de Poictu IX. By Michael Praetorius & Pierre Francisque Caroubel. Terpsichore (arr. for chamber ensemble). By Michael Praetorius.

Terpsichore is a compendium of more than 300 instrumental dances published in 1612 by the German composer Michael Praetorius. The collection takes its name from the muse of dance. The collection is based on French dance repertoire of the time, although some of the tunes have been identified as coming from elsewhere in Europe, for example England and Spain.
